Welcome To Nerulgymkhana
Vision and Growth
Vision – “To Provide Sports, Health, Sports Education and Social Activities to the Community of Navi Mumbai especially Nerul”
Genesis and Growth – The Association of Nerul Gymkhana was Established in the year 1997 by nine Pioneer Members, with the sole aim to have a center of excellence in Nerul, to provide Sports, Health and Social activities. Each Pioneer donated an amount of Rs. 10,000/- and with the corpus of Rs. 90,000/- the Association was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act by the Charity Commissioner as a Public Charitable Trust, in 1998.
The Founder Membership of the Association was opened in the year 1998 @ Rs. 12,500/- and within a short span of time more than 500 members were enrolled. The Gymkhana was more a citizens crusade as it depended largely on its members to volunteer for furthering its mission. During the initial years, when the community of Nerul was being formed the Association acted as a magnet for like minded volunteers to assemble in its meetings and discuss ways and means to develop the centre of excellence. Initially, these meetings were conducted from the homes and garages of the Pioneer and initial Founder members of the Association.
The volunteers conducted activities of Sports, Health and Social which catered to the masses. The apolitical and selfless activities of the volunteer citizens of the Association prompted the CIDCO to allocate in the year 2000, six acres of land for the development of Nerul Gymkhana. With the allotment of land the Volunteers of Gymkhana undertook the task of construction of the Gymkhana and an architectural design competition was conducted in which the best design was selected to be the Master Plan of Nerul Gymkhana. Within a span of two years (2002), the Gymkhana developed 4 Tennis courts and a Swimming Pool with changing room area for its members and the community.
The facilities of the Gymkhana was further boosted when in the year 2007 the Phase I of the gymkhana encompassing amphitheater, world class gymnasium, restaurant, yoga/aerobics room, lounge and administration/accounts room, cricket pitches, party lawn areas was commissioned. Today in the year 2016, the Gymkhana is home to more than 3500 member families..
