Reva Parab - National Open Swimmer
Miss Reva Parab, 12 yr old National open water swimmer from Navi Mumbai, she has also excelled internationally in the very much acclaimed Oceanman Krabi Sea swimming race held here in Krabi Thailand and performed exceptionally well by winning Silver medal in the Junior category for 2km and also she stood overall 2nd open group for 2km women category with a timing of 34 mins & 45 sec
Oceaman Krabi was one of the toughest ocean swims. The strong currents, high tides, and the sheer number of jellyfish made it incredibly challenging. we are proud of Reva, she battled all the odds and finished the race with flying colours.
Reva a 7th std student, is already an accomplished competitive open water swimmer having many accolades to her name, she swam Elephanta to gateway of India a distance of 14 km at the age of 9yrs in 2 hrs & 44 min. She was the fastest swimmer to swim from Elephanta to Gateway of India. She has also swam Mandwa Jetty to Gateway of India a distance of 20 km in 4 hrs and 3 mins.
She has won many open water swimming competitions and is one of the leading open water competitive swimmer in Maharashtra.
In recently held, Florid Kochi National level swimmathon at Periyar river in Aluva, she participated in 10km river swimming race in open category and overall stood 1st in men as well as women. Reva covered this distance in record breaking time of 2 hrs & 41 mins becoming the fastest swimmer of the event.
However her journey into the swimming world wasn’t easy, an asthmatic child, started swimming to have relief from asthma, her asthma was so severe that she used to need 5 pump everyday, to go on with her day to day life, just swimming 2 laps of the swimming pool used to make her short of breath. From there to what she has achieved till today of conquering seas and becoming a mid distance competitive open water swimmer, is highly impressive and inspiring for many kids.
Reva is an inspiration to many upcoming open water swimmers, she trains at Nerul Gymkhana as well as at Olympic sports centre, with Rupali Repale Swimming Academy under the guidance and mentorship of Rupali Repale. Her goal is to represent India in Olympics for open water event.
